Ningxia wine producing area to participate in Hengqin Global Bay Areas Forum

On December 1, the first China (Macao) High-quality Consumption Exhibition and Hengqin Global Bay Areas Forum themed "quality leads to new ecological consumption and reconstructs new value" was held, focusing on the three key words of quality consumption, business model and cross-border, to discuss the development trend of consumption innovation. The forum invited leaders from the government, industries, the investment field, academia and media to participate.

China is the second largest grape producing country, the fifth largest wine consuming country, and the tenth largest wine producing country in the world, and is the country with the largest consumption potential and fastest growth in the wine market. The eastern foothills of Helan Mountain in Ningxia is recognized as one of the world's most suitable places and gold belt for planting wine grapes and producing high-end wine. After nearly 40 years of cultivation and development, it won the two national signboards of Ningxia National Grape and Wine Industry Open Development Comprehensive Pilot Zone and China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture Tourism Expo last year, opening a new journey for the development of China's wine industry.

At present, the planting area of wine grapes has reached 583,000 mu, surpassing 1/3 of the national planting area. There are 228 wineries (enterprises) with an annual output of 136 million bottles of wine. The brand value of "wine from the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain" is worth about 30 billion yuan (about $4.3 billion), ranking ninth on the national list of regional brands of geographical indication products, and the comprehensive output value is 34.27 billion yuan. It has become a "leader" in the high-quality development of China's wine industry.

Liu Xinyu, Chairman of the Ningxia International Wine Trade Expo Center, delivered a speech at the forum, stating that Ningxia will adhere to the construction of world famous wine producing areas, a national high-quality wine grape planting and breeding base, a production base for international and domestic medium and high-end wineries, and a global wine brand cluster base.

In 2022, the international wine brand center settled in Ningxia, which has effectively enhanced the Chinese wine brand. The wine industry park at the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain in Ningxia was listed as part of the sixth batch of practice and innovation bases for "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", which has become a benchmark for the regional improvement of the ecological environment and the promotion of green development and transformation. It has promoted the digital transformation and upgrading of the whole wine industry chain, implemented the digital service project of the wine industry, built a digital service system, realized a quality management system, and enabled the intelligent development of the industry.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the regions with the highest degree of openness and the strongest economic vitality in China. In recent years, under the leadership of the CPC Ningxia committee and the government of Ningxia, the local wine industry has carried out exchanges with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area many times and has established a cooperative relationship.

At present, through the cooperation with JD Group and other platforms, Ningxia has preliminarily established an online and offline marketing pattern. Furthermore, Ningxia has also implemented various upgrading methods towards different groups of customers, enabling more people in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to recognize and enjoy domestic fine wines.
