On Aug 25, The Second China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo Press Conference was held in Beijing.
Zhao Yongqing, vice chairman of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Ningxia, introduced that over the years, Ningxia has been promoting its wine industry to the world. Ningxia has strengthened the cooperation with international wine organizations such as the International Vine and Wine Organization (OIV), Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI), the Society of Wine Educators (SWE), and major wine countries such as France and Italy, striving to improve its reputation and influence.

In 2013, Helan Mountain's east foothill in Ningxia was listed into The World Atlas of Wine. On March 1, 2021, the "wine of Helan Mountain's east foothill" was selected as one of the first 100 geographical indication products in China. During the expo last year, the OIV recognized Ningxia as the "city of wine". In the top international wine competitions in Brussels and Berlin, more than 60 wineries at Helan Mountain's east foothill have won more than 1,100 awards, ranking first in China's regional medal list.
At present, the wine from Helan Mountain's east foothill has been exported to more than 40 countries and regions. In 2021, the "wine from Helan Mountain's east foothill" ranked ninth in the regional brand list of geographical indication products, with a value of 28.14 billion yuan (about $4.23 billion). The export volume increased by 256% year on year.
